Street Market

(1905)
A small length of shopping street: on the left, the front of a delicatessen, with a massive awning decorated with painted victuals. On the right, the entrance to a building: the lintel is badly crack, the door is decorated with glass panels with palmettes. An organ player, his instrument on his back, enters from the left; a four-season merchant, behind her awning cart, serves a customer. A second merchant is doing business near her cart. In the foreground, a young girl is carefully guiding the steps of a very young child, who is cautiously observing a passing dog. In the background, the silhouette of another organ player can be made out, sitting on the ground.
Only state, 250 mm × 168 mm.
