The ballerina performs an arabesque with her arms outstretched in line with her body, one leg stretched back. In the background, the rest of the corps de ballet. In the front, the prompter's hole and an abandoned rose.

The flower has been added to the foreground. Some shadows have been pushed to black on the railing and the scenery on the right.

The second state BPL print shows numerous retouching in black stone, such as a trial for the flower in the foreground. Print published by Lefèvre and Son (London). There were 25 proofs on japon and 100 on vellum.Sylvia, a ballet by Delibes created in 1876, was presented at the Paris Opera in 1919.
