The Caravan

Like the Baraques de la Zone (Ba 96), this caravan has been transformed into a permanent facility with horse pens and extensions for craft work. A mother and son walk forward, in the foreground, under the scrutinizing gaze of a young girl hidden in the caravan. In the distance a village.

Plate described in the Bibliographie de la France (Chronique, February 4, 1927, p.32, no. 1612: La Roulotte, original etching by Brouet, 0,09×0,20, without remarques. Edition of 90 proofs on various papers and states, from 500 to 600 fr). It was acquired by the Chalcographie in 1932 (inv. no. 7170). A linear technique reminiscent of the Repetition of the Circus (Ba 466).
