Two cobblers are working in a window, amidst an accumulation of tools and shoes. Through the window, a mill can be seen.

After reducing the plate by 5 mm on the right.

The first state was printed in 1910 by Trowbridge, the fourth around 1913 by Delātre for l'Estampe Moderne, who owned the plate. The edition was made up of 6 numbered artist's proofs (3 on japon and 3 on thin hollande), 8 numbered trial proofs including 2 on old japon, 20 proofs on japon numbered from 11 to 30/30 and 60 proofs on hollande numbered from 11 to 70/70. The plate was reduced to the right and printed again at 75. For a very similar work, see Les Savetiers (Ba 30).
