Fruiterer

The fruiterer, leaning out of a window, is tending to her stall from inside her shop/home. The window blind is drawn up at an angle. Fruits are heaped on the stall and the reserves are hanging below, baskets. Two children are sitting on the pavement, playing.

This print is often associated with the Baraques de la Zone (Ba 96), with which it may have been conceived as a pair. The shop is housed in a half-timbered house which is reminiscent of the work of so many Belle Epoque painter-engravers, especially V. Trowbridge and his view of the Cour d'Albane in Rouen.
