Fête du Trio Montmartrois

A street seen in enfilade goes up to the top of Montmartre. The Sacré-Coeur, still under construction, emerges in the background. This scene, drawn in line, stands out, as if in a doorway, against an aquatint background whose shapes evoke the silhouette of the Moulin de la Galette in the background.

The inscription FETE DU TRIO MONTMARTROIS 17 AVRIL 1907, composed in a script close to that of the Card for Delâtre (Ba 3), is drawn sometimes upright, sometimes upside down (probably by mistake). The mention Imp. Delâtre Montmartre is etched in the plate at the bottom right. An illustration, most probably for the cover of the program of a show of the Trio Montmartrois, given on April 17, 1907 at the Salle des fêtes du Journal under the presidency of Jean Richepin and with the participation of many artists including Séverine. The Trio Montmartrois was made up of the poet and songwriter Albert Larrieu (1872-1925), the guitarist Marius Farrail and the singer Firmin Delrieu (Nice, 1881 - Bourg-la-Reine, 1977). The flat tints and the cut-outs are very 1900s and refer to certain drawings by Léon Dax.
