In the middle of some trees, a trailer. It is part of a circus. A wide staircase gives access to it. A man is sitting on the threshold. On the right, a group of four people; in the centre, three children and a cart with musical instruments; on the left, two benches. Five peeled trees form the background. There are no distant views.

At the request of the editor, the trunk of the tree above the drum has been reinforced as well as the base of the trunk to the right of it.

In the third state the plate was printed by Welsch (London) for Diétrich, under the name Les Saltimbanques. Edition of the final state at 10 on parchment, 15 on japon and 50 on hollande by Delâtre for Diétrich. Plate destroyed.
