The Sideshow

etching, roller (1914)
It is night. On the trestles of a fairground theatre in full light, two ballerinas perform a few dance steps to the sounds of an orchestra in the half-light on the left. On the right, near a rack, are a clown and a monkey; in the background, the tobacconist behind her counter. In the foreground, on the left, a young acrobat is sitting on the last step of the stairs. In the lower margin, five motifs form remarks.
